LGBTQIA+ MATTERS

LGBTQIA+ Matters

Sims Therapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space for those who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies.  We understand that you may be facing challenges related to your identity and are here to help. We welcome you with open arms and nonjudgmental ears. In therapy, you will learn to navigate your specific life challenges by developing effective strategies that support you in being your true self.

We also support loved ones of LGBTQ+ individuals by providing a place where you can be honest with your understanding, thoughts, and feelings. More specifically, we recognize that parents and families experience their own unique process when their child comes out or begins transition. We are here to support you along this journey, no matter where you are.

Individual Therapy

Life is difficult, and we all need help sometimes.  If you are feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or "stuck," you've come to the right place. Therapy may not have the power to remove all life stressors, but it can sure help you become better at responding to them. We aim to help clients gain confidence in their emotional and mental health wellbeing through therapeutic intervention.

Life stressors and transitions can disconnect us from ourselves. If you need support in exploring and reconnecting with yourself, we are ready to work with you.

You will learn to recognize and apply your strengths in life, which will lead you to feeling more in control. Therapy session topics are directed by your individual goals and growth.

ADHD

Attention-Defecit/Hyperactivity Disorder, commonly known as ADHD can affect many areas of life—from focus and organization to relationships and self-esteem. At our practice, we help adults better understand how ADHD shows up in their daily lives and provide the tools and support needed to manage it effectively.

How we can help:

ADHD Testing:

Are you wondering if you have ADHD? Or were your diagnosed with ADHD in the past and want an updated understanding of your symptoms?

Our ADHD evaluation is conducted in two 50 minute sessions in office (Tyler, TX) or online. We have therapists on staff who are not only professionally trained, but also passionate about helping people better understand their diagnosis.

ADHD Counseling:

Have you been diagnosed with ADHD and feel unsure of what to do from here?
We understand the nuances of an ADHD diagnosis and how it can significantly impact your overall functioning. ADHD counseling will help you better understand your mind, improve focus, and gain more control over your life. Our goal is to empower you with strategies and understanding that will help you work with your challenges and live the life you desire. â€‹

Do you suspect you or your partner struggle with ADHD and notice it causing strain on your relationship?
We understand the impact ADHD can have on your relationship. Common challenges include forgetfulness, distractibility, impulsivity, and difficulty following through on commitments, which can leave the non-ADHD partner feeling unheard, unimportant, or overburdened. Meanwhile, the partner with ADHD may feel criticized, misunderstood, or constantly falling short. This dynamic can create cycles of frustration and resentment if not addressed. Counseling helps couples learn to understand each other’s needs, improve emotional connection, and build a stronger, more supportive relationship.
